25 Years of Bridging Cultures for Christ

Master of Arts in Christian Communication

Goals and Objectives | Prerequisites for Entry | Course Requirements M.A. (C.C.)
Course Requirements M.A. (C.C.) Intercultural Communication

Like the M.A. (R.E.), normally a minimum of two years is required for the completion of the course leading to this degree. A candidate must complete a total of 48 hours, of which 24 hours must be taken in residence. APNTS graduates in communication are working in such fields as journalism, Christian music company promotion, missions, and radio program production.

The master’s program in Christian Communication is made possible through the International Communications Division of the Church of the Nazarene, which is providing funds for a Media Center to serve the Asia-Pacific Region of the Church of the Nazarene.

Goals and Objectives

The program provides a foundational core of graduate-level courses in Christian communication so that graduates will be well equipped with traditional as well as advanced technological means for communicating the gospel in the twenty-first century. Since the Bible and theology form the content to be communicated, these subjects are also required. Students will evidence expertise in one area of communication by developing a thesis.

The Intercultural Communication concentration is for those students intending to become missionaries or otherwise to be engaged in crosscultural ministries. It provides a balance of communication and missions courses.

Prerequisites for entry into the M.A. (C.C.) program

The Master of Arts in Christian Communication is built upon the student’s background in some field related to communication. The pre-Seminary prerequisites apply with the exception of the New Testament Greek requirement.

It is further required that all students entering the program present some major project in any form (printed, audio or visual) of Christian communication. A thesis is required of all M.A. (C.C.) students.
