May 24, 2008 from 8:00am to 5:00pm
APNTS has begun, in partnership with Compassion International, a Graduate Certificate program in Holistic Child Development, and this Seminar is a fruit of this partnership and program. We are aiming to have a successful convergence of church leaders, HCD practitioners and Christian preschool and elementary school teachers. This will be a way of injecting passion for the physical, emotional, social and spiritual welfare of children into the minds and hearts of teachers, and also into the curricula of the church schools.
This is a "grass-roots" event. Our special speakers will be
- Menchit Wong, the International Advocacy Director of Compassion International on Responding to God’s Heart for Children: Church Schools and Children in Crisis, and
- Louie Cadaing of TEAR Fund on Understanding God’s Heart for Children.
There will also be a variety of interesting workshops to choose from, including:
- Invisible Children Outside the Door by Rev. Dan Balayo, Nazarene Child Sponsorship Regional Coordinator;
- Spiritual Nurture of Children in Crisis by Dr. Nativity Petallar, APNTS’s HCD program director;
- Lost in the City: The Child in Urban Context by Dr. Robert Donahue, Director of Donald Owens School of World Missions;
- Resources for Ministering to Children in Crisis by Josephine Gutierrez, National Coordinator of Philippines Children’s Ministries Network;
- Prostituted, Abandoned and Abused Children, ministry presentation by Sol Balbero of Kanlungan sa Erma; and
- Nazarene Compassionate Ministry, presentation by Rev. Ilde Detalo, NCM Philippines Coordinator.
The seminar fee is Php. 500.00, which includes snacks, lunch and certificate. Those who will register on or before May 16, 2008 will receive 30% discount. There will be 20% group discount given to more than five participants per church, agency or mission. Each participant will receive a one-half unit of Continuing Education for their attendance and participation in the plenary sessions and workshops.
